New games at PlayStation State of Play 2022 revealed

Tekken 8, Rise of the Ronin, Pacific Drive... and that's not all of the intriguing games we were presented with during the September PlayStation State of Play.

Let's see what we know about these games so far!

Tekken 8: official announcement and trailer

The Tekken 8 fighting game trailer showed us the characters facing off in a heated battle in the rain. The video, recorded on PlayStation 5 at 60 frames per second, shows an excerpt from the story mode, and it is possible to assess the level of development of characters' models and the surrounding world. The video looks very impressive - and for good reason: the developers promised to create one of the most visually stunning and atmospheric fighting games. 

The game has only been announced for PlayStation 5 so far, but is expected to be available on Xbox Series X | S as well as on PC via Steam.

Rise of the Ronin: A Samurai Game in an Open World

Team Ninja has announced a new open-world action-RPG called Rise of the Ronin. The trailer shows the game world in the period of modernization of Japan, with great graphics and spectacular characters.

The events of the game are set at the end of the 19th century, just before the end of the 300-year period of Edo, commonly known as Bakumatsu. We will play the role of Ronin, a free warrior without a master, who sets out on an epic journey to stop the chaos into which the country has been plunged by epidemics, Western influence, civil wars and oppressive rulers.

It looks like the game will be a serious competitor for Assassin's Creed: Codename Red. However, it will only be released on the PlayStation 5 console - and not until 2024.

Pacific Drive: Driving survival game

This new "driving survival game" is probably one of the most intriguing titles announced during the PlayStation State of Play. 

The trailer shows a seemingly ordinary station wagon driving slowly through the Pacific Northwest on a bleak evening. It quickly becomes clear that this car is not quite ordinary, with a futuristic-looking display on the dashboard and various accessories bolted to the hood and side panels, including luminous ones. 

Pacific Drive is a first-person survival game, where the aforementioned car is our only companion while traveling through a surreal and full of anomalies world. It features poisonous clouds of spores, electrified tumbleweeds, rocky ledges ripping through the ground, and what seems to be... zombies? 

Pacific Drive will be released on PC in 2023.

Stellar Blade: Formerly Project Eve

Project Eve, the beautiful and intriguing action game shown last year by Korean studio Shift Up, has reappeared on the horizon, but already as Stellar Blade. 

The trailer is a combination of gameplay and videos, giving players a glimpse of the post-apocalyptic setting, beautiful graphics and the game's story.

The player will have to fight unknown alien invaders and regain humanity's control of Earth, which was lost in the world collapse.

The game will be released in 2023 on PlayStation 5.

Synduality: New game from Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco announced Synduality - a third-person shooter, in which we will be offered to explore the post-apocalyptic world of Amasia together with our robotic mech, hide from the rains, restore the lost lands of mankind and search for a way of human and AI existence.

Visually, the game somewhat resembles Nier: Automata - both mechs and art style are somewhat similar, though Synduality seems more colorful and vivid. 

The game is expected to be released in 2023.
