Changed design, USB-C connector, capacitive buttons: Accurate renders based on iPhone 15 Pro drawings leaked

The website 9to5Mac has published exclusive renderings of the iPhone 15 Pro smartphone, which will be released this September, based on drawings by 3D designer Ian Zelbo. The photos show that significant design changes are planned for Apple's flagship smartphone.

The drawings, on which the renderings are based, Apple is providing factories in Asia to make phone cases. This is to ensure that the accessories are already available when the device is presented.

Perhaps the most notable change is the shift from the Lightning connector to the more popular and common USB-C connector. The Lightning connector has been used in most iPhone and Apple accessories since 2012.

Another change is the curvature of the edges on both the glass and the metal frame. The glass is slightly curved around the edges, providing a smoother transition to the frame, which is also more curved than before. This can make holding the phone more comfortable.

The protrusion in the back camera area is also thicker than before, indicating that Apple may be updating the camera system. The camera layout remains the same as on the iPhone 14 Pro, with three lenses and LiDAR housed in a square module. This generation's camera lenses are thicker, perhaps hinting that the next smartphone will have larger image sensors.

Some changes to the volume control and switch are noticeable on the side of the phone. The volume controls look like capacitive buttons, not the physical ones that have been reported. The off button also has an updated look.

Ian Zelbo was the first to publish an accurate rendering of the Google Pixel Watch long before their presentation.

It was previously reported that the iPhone 15 Pro will get a redesigned screen with thinner bezels. In addition, the screen will have a higher brightness compared to the previous ones. According to insider ShrimpApplePro, the iPhone 15 series smartphones will have the same screen size as the current iPhone 14: 6.1 and 6.7 inches.

The source also said that the base models of the iPhone 15 will get a new camera. Gsmarena.com wrote at the time that it is likely that the base iPhone 15 will get a 48-megapixel camera, which is now used in the iPhone 14 Pro model. It was also previously reported that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will get 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively, as well as a USB Type-C connector.
