Samsung has introduced three new smartphones in the Galaxy S23 series: the vanilla Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The latter has even managed to earn the title of the most powerful smartphone of 2023.

Most of the specifications of these smartphones have long been known from various leaks, so they are unlikely to surprise anyone. By today's standards, these devices look pretty standard; there is nothing unusual about their design.

The flagship, Galaxy S23 Ultra, has a large 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels, while the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ models have 6.11 and 6.6-inch Infinity-O AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. All three smartphones are protected on both sides by tough Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

On the back panel of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, you can see three cameras with round bodies.

Camera specifications:

  • 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), 1/1.56", 1.0µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS,
  • 10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.94", 1.0µm, PDAF, 3x optical zoom,

The more powerful Galaxy S23 Ultra has a more angular body with four rear cameras.

  • 10 MP, f/4.9, 230mm (periscope telephoto), 1/3.52", 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, 10x optical zoom,
  • 10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.52", 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom,
  • 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55", 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF.

All three smartphones have received 8-core Qualcomm processors, and not the standard one, but a special version: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which is faster than the standard one thanks to a higher frequency of 3.6 GHz instead of 3.2 GHz. All three models have the same graphics card, Adreno 740.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh lithium-ion battery, the Galaxy S23+ has a 4,700 mAh battery, and the Galaxy S23 has a more modest 3,900 mAh battery.

The most powerful smartphone of the year: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra sets a performance record

Many experts call the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra the most powerful smartphone of 2023, and it won this title even before its release, and the test conducted by the popular site Geekbench 5 confirmed it.

A reliable source from Ice Universe wrote on Weibo that Samsung's new flagship scored the best score for an Android smartphone in single-stream mode, scoring 1,573 points. And when using all the cores of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the result of the Galaxy S23 Ultra reaches 5060 points.

Before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Geekbench record was held by the Chinese flagship OnePlus 11 with the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which scored 1,329 and 4,767 points, respectively, in the single-core and multi-core tests.
