Last Tuesday, Anthropic released nine new connectors for Claude tailored specifically for creative professionals. These connectors embed the AI assistant into workflows spanning 3D modeling, video editing, music production, and live visual performances. Additionally, the company joined the Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Patron, pledging to contribute at least €240,000 annually to support this open-source 3D software.
AI and Creative Software: Unifying Capabilities
"Today, alongside partners—Blender, Autodesk, Adobe, Ableton, and Splice—we are releasing a set of connectors: tools that allow Claude to work side-by-side with the software creative professionals rely on, expanding their capabilities," Anthropic announced in its blog.
The connectors cover a broad spectrum of creative disciplines. Adobe for creatives utilizes over 50 tools across Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop, Premiere, and Express. Autodesk Fusion allows designers to create and edit 3D models through a conversational interface. Blender provides a natural language interface to its Python API, giving artists the ability to analyze scenes, debug settings, and create custom scripts. Canva’s Affinity automates routine production tasks like batch image processing and file exporting. Splice enables music producers to search for royalty-free samples directly within Claude, while Resolume gives VJs and visual artists the power to manage live performances using natural language. SketchUp transforms text descriptions into downloadable 3D model files, and Ableton ensures Claude provides answers based on official Live and Push documentation.
The connectors are built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2025 that creates secure bridges between Claude and external applications. Since MCP is open, other large language models can also connect to tools like Blender using the same protocol.
Investing in Open-Source 3D Tools
In addition to software integrations, Anthropic has become a Corporate Patron of the Blender Development Fund at the highest level of corporate sponsorship provided by the Blender Foundation. The annual contribution of at least €240,000—roughly equivalent to the salaries of four full-time developers—places Anthropic alongside major patrons like Epic Games and, as of January, Netflix Animation Studios.
A Broader Creative Direction
This release continues a rapid succession of product launches from Anthropic in 2026, including Claude Cowork, Claude Design, and 15 consumer app connectors added last week for services like Spotify, Uber, and Instacart. These creative connectors mark a deliberate expansion beyond productivity and coding—areas where Claude earned its reputation—toward the tools used by designers, musicians, and artists.
"The best creative work happens at the intersection of thinking and making," said Paul Smith, Anthropic’s Director of Business Development, in a comment accompanying Adobe’s earlier announcement regarding their AI assistant partnership.
