At GTC 2026, NVIDIA officially announced DLSS 5, the next generation of its upscaling and neural rendering technology.
The key feature is full AI-driven lighting, capable of generating photorealistic illumination and reflections in real time while adapting to any scene and preserving developers’ artistic intent. The release is scheduled for fall 2026 and is aimed at the upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs.
While DLSS 3 and 4 mainly focused on performance improvements through upscaling and frame generation, DLSS 5 takes a major step forward with neural lighting rendering.
