Meizu 22 Next: a 4-inch cube with emotional AI and its own operating system

January 13, 2026  14:15

At the Meizu Fan Spring 2026 festival, the company introduced the Meizu 22 Next, also known as AI Cube, a device positioned as a new class of AI gadgets. It is not a smartphone in the traditional sense but a compact square device with a 4-inch display that completely abandons the classic graphical interface in favor of voice and contextual control.

Compact form factor and full autonomy

The AI Cube is designed as a small cube with a square 4-inch screen. The device works fully autonomously, supports 5G networks, and runs on Meizu’s own operating system, Meizu AIOS. This OS is built exclusively around voice and contextual interaction, without traditional icons, menus, or standard touch-based navigation.

The main focus is on a multi-agent interaction system, where different AI agents exchange data and jointly solve tasks. A user can give a single voice command, and so-called task robots automatically carry out a chain of actions across applications, from booking tickets to planning a daily schedule. At the same time, compatibility with conventional GUI applications is preserved.

Emotional AI and user memory

One of the most notable features is emotional intelligence. The avatar engine supports more than 100 emotional states, ranging from joy and surprise to thoughtfulness and mild sadness. The AI Memory function stores information about the user’s mood, habits, preferences, and current state, forming personalized responses, reminders, and even emotional support.

The AI Cube is designed to become the central control terminal for the entire Meizu ecosystem, including smartphones, IoT devices, smart home systems, and cars through the One-Flow platform.

Different accessories are planned for various use cases:

  • a wearable AI companion,
  • a desktop format,
  • a car mount.

Plans and prospects

The price and exact release date have not yet been announced. Meizu has confirmed that the platform will be open to third-party developers, allowing the AI ecosystem to expand and enabling the creation of new usage scenarios.

In brief

The Meizu 22 Next, or AI Cube, is a 4-inch square AI gadget without a traditional interface, running on Meizu AIOS with 5G support. It relies on multi-agent interaction, task robots, and emotional AI with user memory. The device is intended to become the center of the One-Flow ecosystem for smartphones, IoT, and smart home systems. Accessories allow it to be used as a wearable companion, a desktop terminal, or an in-car hub. Pricing and sales dates have not been announced yet, and the platform will be open to developers. It stands out as one of the most unusual AI gadgets of 2026.
