WhatsApp updates its “info” section: Now more visible and convenient

November 21, 2025  14:31

The WhatsApp team has introduced an updated version of the “Info” section, which used to be easy to overlook but has now become one of the key interface elements in personal chats and user profiles.

What Has Changed in the Interface

The redesigned “Info” section is now placed at the top of chats and profiles — impossible to miss. The design is cleaner and more modern, and the feature set has been significantly expanded. It’s no longer just a status line but a full-fledged way to quickly let people know about your mood, availability, or any other relevant information.

New Capabilities

  • Users can post short text messages and emoji.
    • Contacts see this information directly in the chat and can respond to it with a single tap — the reply appears in the conversation as a regular message.
    • By default, a post is active for 24 hours, but the duration can be changed (from a few minutes to “until I remove it”).
    • Expanded privacy options: show it to everyone, to contacts only, or to selected people.

The developers explain: “Today, when life moves faster than ever, sometimes a single emoji or a couple of words is enough to explain why you can’t reply right now or what you’re open to talking about. The new ‘Info’ section was created for exactly those moments.”

When It Will Roll Out

Deployment has already begun. The update will reach all iOS and Android users worldwide within the week.

In Short

WhatsApp has made the “Info” section more visible, convenient, and interactive: it’s now a quick way to share a status (text + emoji) that others can respond to directly in the chat. The visibility and duration are customizable, and the update is rolling out to all users this week.
