WhatsApp introduces a new feature: More possibilities with AI

WhatsApp has introduced a new artificial intelligence–based feature called Writing Help, which assists users in drafting their messages. The update was announced on the platform’s official blog. The new tool is designed to simplify communication by offering text suggestions in different styles.

How does Writing Help work?
The feature allows users to rephrase their messages so they better match the desired tone. A user can choose one of several styles:

• Professional — for business correspondence.
• Humorous — for light and friendly messages.
• Supportive — for expressing sympathy or encouragement.

After typing a message in chat, a pencil icon appears. By tapping it, users activate the AI, which analyzes the message and suggests several alternative phrasings. The feature is powered by Private Processing technology, which ensures confidentiality: neither WhatsApp nor Meta has access to the contents of the messages or AI suggestions. The feature is optional and disabled by default — users must enable it in the settings.

Availability and plans
At present, Writing Help is available in English in the United States and a number of other countries. WhatsApp plans to expand support to additional languages and regions in the future, though exact timelines and language lists have not yet been announced.

Other new WhatsApp features
Recently, another feature appeared in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android (2.25.23.21): an auto-responder for voice messages. If a contact does not answer a call, the user can press the Record Voice Message button in the call interface, located between End Call and Call Again. This makes communication easier by allowing users to leave a message without returning to the chat.
