Apple prepares HomePod and AI-Powered robotic device

Apple plans to release a HomePod with a 7-inch display by the end of 2025. Initially slated for a spring launch, the release was delayed due to technical challenges in developing the Apple Intelligence AI platform and upgrading the Siri voice assistant.

The new device is positioned as a central “command hub” for managing smart home devices within the HomeKit ecosystem. Key features of the HomePod with a screen include a built-in camera for FaceTime video calls, battery-powered operation, and a new homeOS operating system. It will feature deep integration with Apple Intelligence, enabling Siri to handle requests and tasks more efficiently. The display will also be optimized for video applications, providing a user-friendly interface for smart home control and multimedia.

AI-Powered Robotic Device

In addition to the HomePod with a screen, Apple is working on a more ambitious project: a smart display with a robotic arm and a unique AI personality. This device promises to redefine smart home management by offering both functionality and an interactive experience through advanced artificial intelligence. The robotic arm will allow the display to dynamically respond to users, such as rotating for video calls or displaying information.

However, this project has also faced delays. According to insiders, its release is expected one to two years after the HomePod with a screen, likely not before 2026–2027. The primary reasons are the need to refine complex technologies, including AI and mechanical components.

Prospects for the Smart Home

These new devices reflect Apple’s ambition to strengthen its position in the smart home market, where it currently trails competitors like Amazon and Google. The HomePod with a screen will serve as the first step toward creating a comprehensive HomeKit control hub, offering users an intuitive interface and enhanced Siri capabilities.
