Why do experts advise temporarily deleting WhatsApp?

A critical vulnerability has been discovered in the WhatsApp messenger that allows malware to penetrate users' devices. Cybersecurity expert Alexey Raevsky, in an interview with aif.ru, recommends that those who are concerned about security temporarily delete the application.

How serious is the problem?

Raevsky notes that this is a zero-day vulnerability, that is, one for which the developers have not yet managed to release a fix. However, according to him, such threats are used extremely selectively and, as a rule, affect people who have confidential or valuable information.

The cost of such vulnerabilities is millions of dollars, and no one will use them for mass fraud, the expert explained.

Raevsky recommends that if there are any doubts about security, temporarily delete WhatsApp and wait for the update to be released. However, he emphasizes that such vulnerabilities are found in all popular applications, and their elimination is a matter of time.
