The web version of Gmail has AI assistant for writing emails

Google is expanding the "Help Me Write" feature to the web version of its Gmail service. This tool allows users to generate emails with the help of an AI assistant based on the Gemini neural network. As with mobile devices, the option to use this feature will appear when a blank draft is opened in Gmail.

At this stage, the "Help Me Write" feature is available to Google One AI Premium subscribers and those with access to Gemini in Workspace. In addition to generating a draft message, the tool can provide advice on how to write better messages, shorten text, and more.

Google has also added a "polish" shortcut, which is part of the "Help Me Write" toolkit. This shortcut will appear in drafts containing more than 12 words. In the web version of Gmail, users can activate this feature by clicking the shortcut or using the Ctrl+H keyboard combination.

In the mobile version, this option will replace the existing "Improve My Draft" shortcut. Instead of swiping through suggestions, the app will automatically make adjustments. After using the new feature, users can further refine their messages with other AI tools.

Starting today, these updates will be rolled out gradually. It will likely take some time before they become available to all Gmail users.
