Well-known electronics brand is massively recalling its power banks: What is the reason?

The Chinese manufacturer of smartphone accessories and other electronics, Anker, has announced the recall of a series of external batteries due to discovered technical defects, reports The Sun.

According to The Sun, Anker is conducting a recall campaign for the 334 MagGo Battery, Power Bank, and 334 MagGo Battery PowerCore 10k models. The reason for the recall is a defect that causes the batteries in these models to overheat. In some cases, this malfunction can lead to the melting of the device’s plastic components and even self-ignition.

It is noted that the listed power bank models were designed for iPhone but can be used with any smartphones. According to the manufacturer, the recall affects all batteries produced between January 3 and September 17, 2024. Anker emphasizes that the problem only affects a limited number of external batteries, but to ensure safety, all devices need to be recalled.

Users from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Australia can return their Anker external batteries to the manufacturer and receive a refund.
