WhatsApp has new feature that works without an internet connection

A feature that allows exchanging files with people nearby without using the internet has been discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone, reports WABetaInfo.

The new feature was spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, version 24.15.10.70, which can be downloaded from TestFlight.

A similar feature, enabling the transfer of documents, photos, videos, and other files between nearby devices, was previously seen in the test version of the messenger on Android. However, unlike the Android version, which uses automatic detection to find nearby devices, the iOS version requires scanning a QR code to exchange files.

It is expected that the new feature will significantly simplify the process of transferring large files, such as high-resolution photos and videos, which will be appreciated by users with unstable or expensive internet connections.

The feature will be available on both Android and iOS and will have end-to-end encryption to protect the transmitted data. The innovation is still in the early stages of development, so the release date in the messenger is not yet disclosed.
