What feature will the 2025 Apple laptop have?

Apple has found a new compact camera module (CCM) supplier: according to well-known insider and TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Sunny Optical will now supply CCMs for future MacBooks that will run on the next-generation M5 chip. Most likely, future iPhones and iPads will also receive cameras from this company.

According to MacRumors, Apple plans to reduce the thickness of future devices, starting with the iPad Pro 2024. Compact camera modules play a key role in realizing this plan. However, miniaturization is not the only benefit of the new camera modules from Sunny Optical. Apple technology users have been waiting for Face ID on MacBooks for a long time.

Before Kuo's announcement, insider and Bloomberg correspondent Mark Gurman wrote that Apple was already working on introducing Face ID into its computers. According to him, Face ID will appear in Apple laptops in the next couple of years. New compact camera modules could speed up the integration of this technology into MacBooks.

According to Kuo, new CCMs will appear in Apple laptops no earlier than 2025. Most likely, this will happen in the second half of the year, when the company will release a MacBook based on M5 processors.

Thus, Apple's new collaboration with Sunny Optical opens up new opportunities to reduce the thickness of devices and implement Face ID in MacBook, which will significantly improve the user experience and security level.
