The new neural processor (NPU) inside Apple's A18 Pro SoC, which will be used in the iPhone 16, will be more powerful than the corresponding NPU from Apple M4 used in the iPad Pro.

The NPU of the A17 Pro chip, which is used in the iPhone 15 Pro models, has 16 cores, and the artificial intelligence performance is measured at the level of 35 TOPS. Last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 provides 15 TOPS of AI performance.

The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro launched this year are powered by the M4 chipset, which is based on TSMC's 3nm process, and the SoC's neural processor performance is measured at 38 TOPS, which is slightly higher than last year's A17 From the Pro indicator.

The chipset of Apple's new smartphone is expected to significantly outperform the Apple M4 in this regard. According to preliminary data, the A18 Pro's NPU performance can exceed 45 TOPS. This is an even higher figure than the NPU in the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite.

At the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple announced the Apple Intelligence AI system, which will be integrated into iOS 18 system apps and Siri voice assistant.
