Gord: What does gameplay of dark strategy game in a Slavic setting look like?

September 23, 2022  10:53

Diablo 2 and Frostpunk. These are the games you will probably remember when you start playing the new Gord – or, for starters, watch the gameplay video with commentary from the creators.

Diablo 2 was released a long time ago, of course, but you probably remember the starting camp with a few tents and caravans, and a wall to protect against skeletons. The city in Gord evokes associations with this very location, only here you are not the hero who quickly leaves the camp and goes to adventure, but the mayor of this very camp. You will have to manage it, develop it, turning it into a dark fantasy city in the Slavic style.

In addition, to do so will be, judging by the shown gameplay, as hard as in Frostpunk: you will have to gather resources, manage the city and its inhabitants, and send them into battle. The plot tells us about the Sunset Tribe, surviving in aggressive conditions.

The developers promise to introduce a complex system of health and morality for the residents of our town, as well as the problems like starvation, depression and many diseases.

The game is being developed by Covenant studio, founded by former CD Projekt RED employee (creators of The Witcher) Stan Just. It also takes us through the basic quest in the video, where we can see the residents of the town going crazy because of poisoned eggs in the swamp, and we need to send a squad to deal with the rot.

Gord is expected to be released in 2022 on PC on Steam, but a specific release date is not yet known.
