Telegram launches monetization program: Who can participate and how will they receive the money?

Telegram has announced the launch of a monetization program for channel owners. Authors can now receive 50% of the revenue from advertisements displayed in their channels. The opportunity to place ads will be available for channels with 1000 or more subscribers.

Rewards from the monetization program can be withdrawn without commission or used to pay for advertising in Telegram, collectible addresses, or premium subscription giveaways. Income statistics from advertisements can be tracked in the channel settings under "Statistics" > "Monetization". Rewards withdrawal will be available to channel owners on the Fragment platform in the coming weeks.

Advertising can be paid for using Toncoin - a cryptocurrency based on the TON blockchain. The platform explains that the TON blockchain was chosen for its combination of low fees, high transaction processing speed, and support for a record transaction volume per second. When creating an ad, specific channels for placement and display can be selected.

At present, TON-based advertisements are not displayed to users in several countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel, as noted in Telegram's press release.

The platform clarifies that advertisements on Telegram are different from those on other platforms. They only appear in large public channels and are not shown in regular user chats, chat lists, or on other screens of the application. Additionally, Telegram does not use personal data to target new ads. The content of advertising messages depends solely on the specific channels in which they are displayed. Channel owners themselves will receive rewards for impressions.

The option to disable ad display is available to Telegram Premium subscribers.
