Expert says it's very easy to track people's movements based on open data

Today, the movement of any person can be tracked through open data. To do this, you need to know five identifiers, Igor Bederov, director of the Internet Search company, told Gazeta.Ru.

"These identifiers include mobile phone number, email address, device modem address, as well as Apple and Google device identifiers," he said, adding that these are the five parameters through which a person can be tracked.

According to him, all these data are present in the leaked data. Moreover, they can be obtained in different ways.

“You connect to some Wi-Fi in an airport, it records your MAC (Media Access Control) address. It is then possible to monitor it without even knowing your phone number. This data is constantly collected and stored in the file," the specialist noted.

Moreover, according to him, all that information is also analyzed – a person's interests, inquiries on the Internet, the frequency of his movements, approximate income, approximate sphere of activity, etc. are determined.

“By default, Google will connect your profiles to all new devices, with all new contacts. If you sign in to the same account from another device, it will combine them all into one profile. If you used the same connection, for example from work, it will also include that in one profile,” he said.
