Woman peels functional layer off her TV screen, thinking it was protective film

A TikTok user with the username Kumalashstudio became a social media sensation after posting a video in which she accidentally broke a new Samsung TV by peeling off its functional screen layer, mistaking it for a protective film. This was reported by The Daily Dot (TDD).

Kumalashstudio explained that after unpacking, she started removing the transport and protective films from the TV. While peeling it off the screen, she sensed something was amiss, turned on the TV, and discovered it was damaged. The issue was that she mistook the polarization layer of the display for a protective film, and without it, the TV couldn't function properly.

Kumalashstudio's video quickly went viral, accumulating 2.6 million views within a day. In the comments, many people reacted with irony and sympathy, but some skeptically questioned how she managed to confuse the functional screen layer with a protective film.

Later, Kumalashstudio posted another video explaining that the polarization layer was already partially detached from one edge. Additionally, it initially peeled off very easily, further reinforcing her mistaken assumption about it being a protective film.

Furthermore, Kumalashstudio claimed that, based on online messages, she was not the only one who faced such an issue. Fortunately, in her case, Samsung responded positively and replaced the defective TV with a new one.
