Google launched its AI-powered search in more than 120 countries: Where is it available?

Google has launched its Search Generative Experience (SGE) service powered by artificial intelligence in 120 new countries. SGE has also received support for four new languages. The service is not yet available for users in Armenia, Russia, Belarus, the EU and a number of other countries, according to Google's blog post.

Google has been actively testing SGE this year. At first, search had only basic features and was available only in the US, but gradually the company expanded both the set of functions and the geography of the service. The service allows users to get detailed answers to their questions, and also uses links to sources in the most important parts.

So far, it has been available in the US, India and Japan. Google noted that user feedback from all three countries has been positive about the service. Therefore, the company decided to add four new language support to SGE: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Indonesian, and expand its presence to more than 120 new countries. Residents of these countries can now enable the new search format in the Search Labs section. It's coming to the desktop version of the Chrome browser today, and to the app next week.

In addition to expanding its geographic presence, SGE continues to acquire new functions. Google noted that users found it extremely useful to ask additional questions based on search results, so they started implementing this feature; now, immediately after receiving a search result, it will be possible to ask new questions based on it. Initially, this feature will only appear for English-speaking US users, but it will be available in other regions in the future.

Another innovation is the expansion of translator functions. Taking into account cultural characteristics, literal translation is not always the optimal way to convey meaning; context and phrasing need to be considered. Therefore, on the translation page, it will be possible to select individual words and reveal their specific meanings. This function is also useful in cases where you need to translate not text, but only one word. And when individual words in a given phrase can be translated in different ways, they will be highlighted. At launch, this feature will only be available in the US and will only be available during English to Spanish translations.

In addition, the scientific context is now expanding in the work with SGE. In August, search results related to history, economics and some other scientific disciplines were enriched with links to definitions of important terms. Now it has expanded to include medicine and programming. Again, initially only English-speaking users from the US will be able to take advantage of this feature.
