iPhone 15 will indeed be more expensive, but it՛ll be easier to repair, while the Pro version will get narrow titanium frame

The smartphones of the entire iPhone 15 series will become more expensive compared to last year's devices. Bloomberg journalist and reliable insider Mark Gurman confirmed this information in his Power On newsletter. Moreover, prices can rise not only outside the USA, but also in the domestic market.

On the other hand, some changes in the design of smartphones are also planned. In the Pro models, the stainless steel case frame will be replaced by titanium, which will make the devices stronger and lighter. In addition, the new series of smartphones will be easier to repair.

iPhone 15 price increase

Tim Long, an analyst of the British Barclays bank, recently spoke about the increase in the prices of Apple's new smartphones, citing data from companies involved in the iPhone supply chain in Asia. He said the iPhone 15 Pro will be $100 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max $100-200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, while the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus model prices may remain the same as last year.

According to Mark Gurman, the increase in the prices of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may be due to the fact that Apple decided to make the bodies of the new devices from titanium, as well as to use a more expensive system in the cameras of the flagship iPhone 15 Pro.

However, Gurman did not provide specific numbers, only reminding that Apple's titanium watches are $100 more expensive than the stainless steel version.

Titanium frame on iPhone 15 Pro models

In the Pro models of the new iPhone 15, the stainless steel frame will be replaced by a titanium version, which will make the smartphones stronger and lighter. However, as mentioned above, the new devices will also become more expensive due to these frames, among other things.

According to Gurman, the screens of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be created using a new technology (low-pressure fusion, or LIPO, as Apple calls it), which will make it possible to reduce the width of the black frames by a third, from 2.2 to 1 .5 mm.

The company has already applied LIPO technology during the production of Watch Series 7 smart watches, and over time, it will be applied to the iPad.

It should also be noted that the company has decided to replace the Lightning connector with USB-C, which will increase the speed of data transfer through the cable. This is an acceptable solution from a technical point of view, but it can cause inconvenience for users who are used to the Lightning cable and have a large number of such accessories.

iPhone 15 Pro will be easier to repair

Apple has made changes to the internal structure of the iPhone 15 Pro, making it easier to repair the smartphone. It is not yet known what kind of changes we are talking about.

The presentation of the iPhone 15 series of smartphones is expected in the fall of 2023.
