WhatsApp Web to get new feature: It is now being tested

WhatsApp is testing yet another new feature that lets you edit the messages that have already been sent on WhatsApp Web. The new feature is currently available to some beta testers. Time to edit messages is not that much.

As reported by Gadgets360.com, the new feature appeared in WhatsApp Web version 2.2319.9. To edit a message, the user simply makes a right click, after which the command "Edit message" appears.

After sending the text, the user will only have five minutes to edit it, although they can edit the message as many times as they want during that time. Additionally, this feature will work in both individual and group chats.

When Apple released iOS 16 last year, the company made it possible to edit texts in its own messenger within 15 minutes, although each message could only be edited five times.

While this editing feature is only available in the WhatsApp Web beta version, WABetaInfo reports that the same feature will soon be available in the Android and iOS beta versions as well. In particular, message editing notifications are already available in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.10.10. Perhaps this is the last step before testing the feature for mobile apps.

It should be noted that other messengers have had this function for a long time now. For example, in Telegram, it is possible not only to delete messages without a trace, but also to edit them, although after editing the text, the message is marked accordingly.
