Apple has released the iOS 16.4 update for iPhones, in which the company has fixed bugs and improved the stability of the operating system, as well as added a number of new features and more than two dozen new emojis.

According to The Verge, the new operating system is around 250MB when upgrading from the latest beta version, and around 2GB when upgrading from iOS 16.3. You can download iOS 16.4 by going to iPhone Settings → General → Software update menu.

One of the main features of iOS 16.4 is the new emojis: trembling face, pink, blue and gray heart, cabbage, goose, wing, jellyfish, hyacinth, etc., a total of 21 new emojis.

The noise isolation feature is now also offered for regular calls. During a phone call, it eliminates the background noise, which makes the voice easier to hear. Previously, this feature was only offered for FaceTime calls, messengers, and VoIP calls.

Push notifications for web apps have also been added as part of the update. Duplicate Photo Finder is now available in iCloud Shared Photo Library. In addition, it is now possible to automatically darken the video when there is strong light in the frame. Also, an issue where purchase requests from children might not appear on the parent's device is fixed, too.

The new update also fixes issues where thermostats were not responding when paired with Apple Home. Crash detection has also been optimized for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.

The iOS 16.4 update can be installed on the following devices:

  • iPhone 8 and 8 Plus,
  • iPhone X,
  • iPhone XS, XS Max and XR,
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max,
  • iPhone SE 2020, SE 2022,
  • iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max,
  • iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max,
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

Some new features in iOS 16.4, however, may not be available depending on the region of use of the device on which the update is installed.
