The game offers fast-paced dogfights and unusual pilot characters designed as anthropomorphic animals. The developers describe the project as a modern take on classic arcade flight shooters: the controls should be easy to learn, while the battles promise to be as dynamic as possible.
Wild Blue Skies will particularly appeal to fans of old-school aerial combat games, though it does not attempt to directly copy any specific franchise. A demo is already available on PC, allowing players to try the game before its full release.
Duskfade — a return to the era of 3D platformersOn the same day, August 13, Duskfade will release for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
Developers at Weird Beluga Studio drew clear inspiration from classic 3D adventures like Jak and Daxter. The game focuses on world exploration, platforming, and dynamic combat, set apart primarily by its unusual clockpunk aesthetic that combines mechanical devices with a retro-futuristic atmosphere.
At the same time, Duskfade goes beyond nostalgia for late 1990s and early 2000s gaming. At its core, the story tackles more serious themes of loss and grief. A demo is also available on PC.
Madden NFL 27 — a new American football season with a revamped gameplay systemAugust 13 will also mark the launch of EA Sports Madden NFL 27, the next entry in the annual sports series. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This time, Electronic Arts is banking on more than just traditional roster and gameplay updates. The main innovation is the Persona Engine, a system designed to make on-field action more dynamic and varied.
The developers continue to build upon ideas introduced in Madden NFL 26, including coach abilities, playbooks, and weekly strategies. However, the new system aims to exert a much stronger influence on how matches unfold and how players behave.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam — a war where you cannot survive aloneAnother August 13 release is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Initially slated for June, the developers pushed the launch back to August.
The new installment is a large-scale multiplayer shooter where two 50-player teams clash amidst the Vietnam War. Unlike more arcade-focused titles like Battlefield or Call of Duty, the project emphasizes realism and teamwork.
Players will need to do more than just shoot; they must organize squad communications, establish defensive lines, and coordinate actions with teammates. The dense Vietnamese jungles become an integral part of gameplay, significantly complicating enemy detection and movement across the map.
Mafia: The Old Country — a new chapter in Enzo Favara's storyRounding out the top five is Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor, releasing on August 14 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The expansion brings players back to Sicily to continue the story of Mafia: The Old Country. For $10, players receive two new story chapters in which Enzo Favara embarks on a mission tied to Ennio Salieri — one of the Mafia series' most iconic characters.
However, the expansion goes beyond a new narrative thread. The developers are expanding Free Ride mode, while Enzo will gain access to new weapons, vehicles, and additional items.
Thus, starting August 13, gamers can look forward to a fresh wave of releases spanning diverse genres: from arcade dogfights and platformers to a sports simulator, a realistic military shooter, and a story expansion for Mafia.
