Campio startup: A unified platform for searching, booking, and paying for hiking trips

July 31, 2026  16:16

As part of Seaside Startup Summit Armenia 2026, the startup Campio was presented—a digital platform designed to unite various hiking and tour organizing companies in one place. The core idea behind the project is to make searching, selecting, booking, and paying for hiking trips as convenient as possible for users, while also providing organizers with an additional channel to attract clients.

According to the founder, Elen Torosyan, the platform plans to gather offers from various tour companies across Armenia. Users will be able to register in the app and access all upcoming hiking trips in a single location.

"For instance, if someone wants to climb a specific mountain, they will no longer need to look for information across different social media pages—the app will display all scheduled routes and available options," Torosyan noted.

Search tailored to individual criteria

One of the platform's key features will be its trip filtering system. Users will be able to select routes based on difficulty level—easy, moderate, or challenging—as well as location: near Yerevan, in remote regions, or in a specific province of Armenia.

Once the criteria are selected, the app will automatically present only those trips that match the user's request. "This will also simplify the search for people who have never participated in hiking before or are just starting to take an interest in this form of recreation," the founder observed.

Payment without social media messaging

The developers highlight that today, most registrations for hiking trips take place via social networks: users contact the organizers, agree on participation, and handle payment separately. In Campio, this process is planned to take place entirely within the app. After choosing a suitable tour, the user can immediately pay for participation using a bank card, without switching to third-party services or spending time on messaging.

After payment, each participant will receive a QR code. It will become active approximately 24 hours before the trip begins. Upon arrival at the meeting point, organizers can quickly check in participants by scanning their QR codes. According to the project creators, this will eliminate queues before starting the route and allow participants to begin their hike immediately.

Company reviews and ratings

The platform also plans to create dedicated pages for each tour company. Users will be able to leave reviews, comments, and share their feedback regarding the quality of organization and services provided. According to Torosyan, this will help new users make informed choices when selecting an organizer based on the experiences of other participants.

To use the system, tour companies will need to register independently in the app and post all necessary information about their routes. After that, users will be able to view up-to-date offers, choose suitable trips, and instantly finalize their participation.

How the platform will generate revenue

Torosyan noted that the final business model is still under development, as the project currently exists as an idea. However, it is preliminarily expected that the main source of revenue will be a transaction commission fee processed through the platform.

According to the project founder, when a user pays for participation via Campio, a certain percentage of the amount will go to the service. Meanwhile, the funds themselves are expected to be transferred to the organizers automatically through an integrated payment system without manual intervention by the platform developers. Torosyan believes this mechanism will make interactions between organizers and clients smoother and more efficient.
