A resident of China's Yunnan Province encountered an unusual problem: inside the monitor she had been using for about six years, an entire ant colony had taken up residence, reports sohu.com.
How it happened
According to the woman, her workspace was always kept clean, yet the insects still managed to penetrate inside the casing and set up a full-fledged ant colony. The problem was only discovered when ants began appearing behind the display panel.
A repair technician noted that eliminating such a "fault" is not easy. Even the heat generated by components during monitor operation is not always sufficient to completely get rid of the insects, and fully disassembling the device requires significant effort.
What experts advise
Net users speculated that the cause of the ants could have been food residue or sugary drinks near the computer. Experts recommend:
Not eating at the workstation Thoroughly cleaning the surface after meals Regularly performing preventative cleaning of equipmentBefore cleaning, the device must be completely unplugged from the power outlet and all cables disconnected. To remove dirt, it is best to use a slightly damp microfiber cloth, avoiding moisture getting inside the casing. The equipment should be completely dry before turning it back on.
In brief
A resident of China discovered an actual ant colony inside her monitor, which she had been using for about six years. The insects had penetrated the casing and established a colony there. Experts note that such cases are difficult to fix without full disassembly. To avoid such problems, it is recommended not to eat at the workstation and to regularly perform preventative cleaning of equipment.
