Armenian company Eleveight AI has launched the first AI factory in the South Caucasus based on NVIDIA Blackwell B300 technology. With this development, Armenia joins the group of countries that possess their own high-performance infrastructure for developing and deploying artificial intelligence solutions.
Armenia gains its own AI infrastructureArman Aleksanyan, co-founder and CEO of Eleveight AI, stated that after more than a year of design and construction work, the company had completed a key phase of the project and was ready to launch Armenia’s first supercomputing center. The facility is expected to enter final testing and controlled operation in the near future. He noted that the project had already attracted significant public interest and emphasized the importance of allowing specialists, researchers, and members of the IT industry to see the infrastructure firsthand.
The first phase of the project required an investment of $120 million. The new Eleveight AI center is designed to handle large-scale AI computing workloads, ranging from model training to deployment in business, scientific research, and engineering applications.
The facility was built according to NVIDIA Reference Architecture standards, allowing international technology companies and research teams to deploy AI projects in Armenia with minimal technical adaptation.
The computing infrastructure is based on next-generation NVIDIA Blackwell B300 accelerators. Thanks to their increased memory capacity and high bandwidth, they are capable of efficiently processing advanced AI models, including modern generative systems, long-context models, and Mixture of Experts architectures.
Environmental responsibility at the core of the projectIn addition to its technological capabilities, the AI factory was designed with environmental sustainability as a core principle. The infrastructure operates with what the company describes as a "zero chemical footprint."
Thanks to engineering solutions and the high-altitude climate of the village of Gagarin, where the facility is located, the infrastructure can rely on natural cooling mechanisms for 11 months of the year, eliminating the need for chemical cooling agents during that period.
Addressing public concerns about the potential use of water from Lake Sevan for cooling, Aleksanyan explained that the cooling technology operates as a closed-loop system that is completely independent of external water resources.
He explained that the system is similar to an automobile engine's cooling system, where a liquid circulates within a sealed circuit to dissipate heat. According to him, it has no connection to external water sources, especially drinking water supplies.
High efficiency and renewable energyEleveight AI co-founder David Abovyan highlighted the efficiency of the facility, attributing it to both engineering decisions and local climate conditions.
He stated that the entire infrastructure had been designed with maximum efficiency in mind and that its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) was close to the levels achieved by leading data centers in Scandinavian countries. He added that the region's relatively low average temperatures, which rarely exceed 25°C, help ensure highly efficient operation of the data center.
According to Abovyan, the combination of advanced technology and favorable natural conditions enables the facility to operate with high energy efficiency while meeting international standards.
In addition, the company has installed its own solar power plant, helping to supply the facility with clean energy and providing long-term energy stability.
