Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable: A laptop with an expanding screen unveiled at CES 2026

At the CES 2026 consumer electronics show, Lenovo presented an experimental gaming laptop, the Legion Pro Rollable, featuring a unique extendable display. The screen can expand horizontally from 16 to 23.8 inches, adapting the device to different tasks. The Verge reports on the new product.

How the rollable screen works

The Legion Pro Rollable supports three modes:

Standard mode: 16 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio (a classic laptop format); Intermediate mode: 21.5 inches; Maximum ultrawide mode: 23.8 inches.

The mechanism allows the display size to change smoothly depending on the use case: compact for mobility and work, expanded for multitasking, or ultrawide for gaming and content consumption.

This is not Lenovo’s first concept with a flexible screen. The company has been experimenting with rollable technologies for several years, but this is the first time such an implementation has been shown in a laptop.

Technical specifications

The prototype is equipped with high-end hardware:

Intel Core Ultra processor (new-generation Lunar Lake or Arrow Lake); Discrete Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card.

Lenovo has not disclosed full specifications, focusing instead on demonstrating the concept of the expandable display itself.

First impressions

Journalists from The Verge who tested the device noted that it still feels like an early prototype. When extending and retracting the screen, there are noticeable delays and audible mechanical noise. The operating system does not always instantly adapt the interface to the changing aspect ratio.

There is also a visible gap in the construction through which internal components can be seen. This is typical for concept devices, where the priority is to showcase the technology rather than deliver a finalized build.

Market prospects

Lenovo has not announced plans for a commercial release of the Legion Pro Rollable. It is primarily a demonstration of the potential of rollable displays in laptops, a technology that may appear in mass-produced models in the coming years.

Such concepts help illustrate how flexible screens could transform the form factor of portable PCs, combining compact devices and full-fledged workstations in a single body.
