September 9, 2025  16:02

OpenAI has announced plans to launch an AI-powered hiring platform by mid-2026, positioning itself in direct competition with LinkedIn as it expands beyond its core product, ChatGPT.

The company also unveiled a comprehensive AI certification program through its OpenAI Academy, securing partnerships, including with retail giant Walmart, and setting an ambitious goal to certify 10 million Americans by 2030.

Job Platform to Rival LinkedIn

OpenAI’s job platform, slated for launch by mid-2026, will leverage artificial intelligence to match employers with candidates skilled in AI-related fields. According to Fiji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, the platform will “use AI to find perfect matches between companies’ needs and what workers can offer.”

The platform poses a significant challenge to LinkedIn. It will include a dedicated track for small businesses and local governments seeking AI specialists. The Texas Business Association plans to use the platform to connect thousands of Texas employers with workers who can help modernize their operations.
