Apple has announced the iPhone 16e, a new model in its affordable iPhone category. Details about the smartphone were revealed in an official press release on the company's website.
The device builds on the iPhone SE series but introduces notable upgrades. It features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate, and at the top of the screen is the signature Face ID notch housing the front camera and facial recognition system.
What's Inside?The iPhone 16e is powered by the Apple A18 chip, the same processor found in the standard iPhone 16. This enables support for Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary AI system. Preliminary reports indicate the device comes with 8 GB of RAM, which is necessary to run the artificial intelligence features.
Additionally, the iPhone 16e marks the debut of Apple’s in-house 5G modem—previously, the company relied on Qualcomm solutions. According to the manufacturer, the new modem offers improved energy efficiency, delivering the longest battery life among all iPhones with a 6.1-inch display.
Camera, Port, and Other FeaturesOn the back, the smartphone sports a single 48 MP camera accompanied by a flash. The iPhone 16e also introduces a USB-C port, making it compatible with universal charging accessories. Instead of the traditional silent mode switch, Apple has added an Action Button, similar to the one on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Price and AvailabilityPre-orders for the iPhone 16e will begin on February 21. The starting price is set at $599 (approximately 54,100 RUB) for the 128 GB model.
