Fraudsters in Russia have started ordering flowers and other gifts for potential victims in order to later steal money from them, reports the Exploit Telegram channel, which told the story of one of the victims of the new scheme.
The scheme works as follows: fraudsters order a bouquet of flowers for a potential victim. The delivery person arrives, introduces himself as an employee of a flower delivery service, hands over the bouquet and leaves without demanding anything in return. The potential victim, however, does not know who sent the flowers.
However, about a day later, he receives a call from the same delivery service and informs him that the delivery was not registered by mistake and that it must be registered for the report, and asks him to dictate the numbers of the SMS message he received on his phone. After that, the fraudsters politely say goodbye, and then try to steal money from the card or issue a loan in his name.
One of the victims, a female doctor, was scammed in this very way and somehow managed to avoid losing two million rubles in a loan in her name. Fortunately, security detected the suspicious transaction and denied it.
