In one of the provinces of China, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was put on charge at night, exploded, damaging the sleeping owner of the device and the furniture of the house, MyDrivers website reports.
According to the source, the incident happened around 06:30 in the morning, when the woman was sleeping next to her charging smartphone. The flagship iPhone 14 Pro Max exploded, as a result of which the woman received burns.
The photos show that the bed and walls were heavily damaged by fire and smoke. According to preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was a battery malfunction. Although the smartphone was purchased in 2022 and is already out of warranty, the victim is hoping to receive compensation from Apple for bodily injuries and damage to the rented apartment.
After learning about this incident, Apple's support service expressed serious concern. The company stated that they will take the device to conduct an examination, regardless of whether it is not covered by the warranty.
However, it is not clear at this time whether the iPhone 14 Pro Max battery was original or the device was repaired improperly, which could have caused the explosion.
