Australian filmmaker Alex Proyas, known for his sci-fi films The Raven (1994), Dark City (1998), I, Robot (2004) and The Omen (2009), American entrepreneur Elon Musk was accused of plagiarism, ixbt reports.
"Hey, Elon, can you return my design?" Proyas wrote on his social network page, presenting a collage with scenes from his movies on the left, and products from Elon Musk's companies on the right, which look very similar.
Director Matt Granger, who worked as Proyas' assistant on the set of I Am Robot, added: "I also want to say to Elon and his complete lack of creativity: 'go to the lap of the writer'."
Tesla's big unveiling last week featured the Cybercab self-driving taxi, a new version of the Optimus robot, and the Robovan minivan.
Comparisons with the movie I Am a Robot, starring Will Smith, quickly appeared on the Internet. Firstly, Elon Musk himself called the event "We are a robot", and secondly, the design of Tesla's robots and new cars really looks like the robots and cars of the movie from 20 years ago, the events of which unfold in Chicago in 2035.
