Apple CEO Tim Cook sold over $50 million worth of shares, according to a report from MacRumors, citing a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to the source, Cook sold 223,986 Apple shares, earning him $50,276,076 (approximately 4.75 billion rubles). These shares were awarded to Cook as part of a compensation package based on Apple’s performance compared to other companies in the S&P 500 index. It is noted that the Apple CEO frequently sells shares in October.
Additionally, in the fall of 2024, Cook received another 219,500 Apple shares. Of these, 54,800 shares will vest in three stages: in April 2027, 2028, and 2029. The remaining 164,600 shares depend on the company's performance and will vest on October 1, 2027. Depending on Apple's financial results between 2025 and 2027, the number of vested shares could range from 0% to 200% of the planned amount.
At the beginning of 2024, Cook owned more than 3 million Apple shares, as well as 1.3 million unvested restricted stock units (RSUs). His unvested shares are valued at over $500 million, and shares make up the majority of his total compensation.
In 2023, Cook’s base salary was $3 million. He also received $47 million in stock awards, $10.7 million in performance-based bonuses, and $2.5 million in other compensation, including contributions to a tax-deferred retirement account (401(k)), insurance premiums, payouts for unused vacation, security expenses, and personal air travel costs.
