'This will be epic': SpaceX's first spacewalk mission is scheduled for August 26

SpaceX's first private mission, in which astronauts will attempt to walk in outer space, is scheduled for August 26. SpaceX founder Elon Musk promises that the mission, called Polaris Dawn, will be truly epic.

"First SpaceX spacewalk mission launches in a week. This will be epic," he wrote on the X social network.

Jared Isaacman, an American businessman, billionaire, pilot, and astronaut, will lead the mission. He noted that the launch will most likely occur at dawn, which is symbolic given the scale of the mission.

Isaacman will command a crew of four, including Scott Poteet (pilot) and two SpaceX employees, Anna Menon and Sarah Gillies, who will act as a medical specialist and mission specialist, respectively.

Isaacman emphasized that the team will be going to a higher altitude than humans have been in over 50 years. The main event of the Polaris Dawn mission will be a planned spacewalk.

He also noted that he understands all the risks associated with the mission: according to him, a spacewalk means that he and his team will be "surrounded by death," and they have been carefully preparing for this moment.

Isaacman compared the upcoming conditions to a vacuum chamber, which allows you to feel changes in pressure and temperature, as well as the psychological aspects of being in the harsh conditions of space.
