Sam Altman, head of OpenAI, the company that created the ChatGPT model of artificial intelligence, receives only $65,000 a year (about $5,420 a month). This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Despite his relatively low salary at the $86 billion company, Altman, 39, has at least $2.8 billion in assets as of earlier this year, thanks to his extensive investment portfolio that includes stakes in Reddit and Stripe.

In total, Altman invested in more than 400 companies. He also took advantage of a line of credit from JPMorgan Chase, which allows him to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in private startups, including companies partnering with OpenAI.

In May, OpenAI began a partnership with Reddit, which sent the company's stock price up more than 10%. Altman's personal stake in Reddit increased by $69 million. However, Altman himself was not involved in this transaction, it was approved by an independent board of directors. OpenAI's board of directors believes that Altman has consistently followed company policies and been transparent about his investments.
