According to the agency, the entrepreneur's fortune declined amid poor financial results for the third quarter of 2023 at Tesla, founded by Musk. Tesla shares fell 9.3% after the quarterly report due to lower profits and sales.
Musk owns about 13% of Tesla shares, according to an April 2023 regulatory filing. He also has approximately 304 million stock options from his 2018 compensation package.
According to the agency's estimates, Elon Musk earned $72.60 billion this year.
At the beginning of October 2022, Elon Musk once again topped the ranking of the 400 richest people in the United States, which is compiled annually by Forbes magazine. His fortune at that time was estimated at $251 billion.
