iPhone sales in China rose for first time in months

May 9, 2024  12:11

The sales of iPhone smartphones in China increased by about 12% in March. This is the first time in recent months that iPhone sales have increased. This comes after Apple and third-party stores officially cut iPhone prices in China.

As reported by Ixbt.com, this data is in stark contrast to the 37% decline in iPhone sales in the first two months of 2024, indicating that Apple's strategy to contain the decline in sales in the Chinese market is beginning to bear fruit.

According to the March report of the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, sales of foreign brand smartphones in the country increased to 3.75 million units year-on-year. The vast majority of them are Apple products. However, despite the increase in sales in March, overall smartphone sales by foreign companies fell by 27% in the first quarter of 2024.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said during the last press conference that the iPhone business in China has grown. Although he did not provide further details, the announcement is consistent with sales growth.

From 2023, Apple is making every effort to improve its business in China. With the rise of competitors such as Huawei, Apple is under pressure in this important Chinese market.

The Chinese market still accounts for 18% of sales of Apple products. China is not only the main market for the iPhone, but also the main part of Apple's global production network, so global investors are closely watching its market performance.
