iPhone 15 Pro Max became best-selling smartphone in first quarter of 2024

Analytics company Counterpoint summed up global smartphone sales for the first quarter of 2024, and the results turned out to be very interesting. The flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max was recognized as the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of this year.

The top five also included the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 14, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was in fifth place.

The top ten best-selling smartphones consist of devices from only these two companies - Apple and Samsung. So, from sixth to tenth places are the Galaxy 15 5G, Galaxy A54, iPhone 15 Plus, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy A34.

According to Counterpoint, the 15 Pro Max brought in more than 60% of the company's smartphone revenue. It is also interesting that sales of Pro versions have increased from 24% to 50% since 2020.

The leadership of the 15 Pro Max surprised many experts, because usually in the first quarter of the year, buyers prefer the basic versions. The current picture is probably due to the increased service life of smartphones: people use their devices longer, and when it’s time to upgrade, they choose the flagships of the line.

Note that in the first quarter of last year, the top 10 best-selling smartphones included devices from only these two companies. Back then, the iPhone 14 topped the list, followed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro. In fourth place was the iPhone 13, and in fifth place was the Samsung Galaxy A13.
