Tall skyscrapers piercing the clouds, buildings that seem to be standing only thanks to magic and are about to topple... there are many buildings and other structures today that seem to defy gravity itself.

NEWS.am Tech editors present to your attention five architectural wonders that demonstrate the ingenuity and innovation of modern engineering.

Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

This iconic skyscraper in Abu Dhabi is tilted at a staggering 18 degrees, earning it the nickname "The Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi". However, unlike its counterpart in Pisa, the “Capital Gate” was designed exactly this way: thanks to complex and innovative architectural solutions, specialists managed to make the structure stable, despite its sharp slope.

Marina Bay Sands Hotel Complex, Singapore

This resort complex in Singapore consists of three towers that seem to hang from a surfboard - their common roof. The illusion of defying gravity is achieved through a complex network of cables and supports hidden within the structure. The rooftop itself features an infinity pool, lush gardens and an observation deck, offering breathtaking views of the Singapore skyline.
