Apple will double minimum memory capacity of iPhone 16 Pro

The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro, set to be released this fall, will have its minimum storage capacity doubled. This was reported by the Macobserver portal.

The current iPhone 15 lineup offers only 128 GB of internal storage in its base models. The only exception is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has a storage capacity of 256 GB. According to the source, the iPhone 16 Pro will also have 256 GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, the base models of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are likely to retain their 128 GB capacity, which may not be sufficient for flagship models by the end of 2024.

Last year, Apple increased the minimum storage capacity of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to 256 GB, which resulted in a $100 price increase for the device. It is not reported whether such a change in the iPhone 16 Pro will affect its price, or whether Apple will keep the price at $999.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro will have an enlarged screen, up to 6.3 inches, while the 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen. The current lineup uses displays with diagonals of 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively. The iPhone 16 is expected to be unveiled in September 2024.
