Five games releasing in August: Marvel, Oblivion, and new adventures on Switch 2

ReStory — repairing retro consoles and running your own shop

The month's first notable release is ReStory, launching August 6 on PC. The game delivers an unusual twist on the simulator genre: instead of building cities or managing farms, players take charge of their own electronics repair shop.

Throughout the game, players will disassemble, clean, and restore various devices, including classic Atari game consoles. The project blends repair mechanics with business management elements, requiring users to track finances, upgrade skills, and expand their workshop. A relaxing lo-fi soundtrack adds to the atmosphere, making it one of the most unique early August releases.

Lies of P: Complete Edition — dark Pinocchio retelling arrives on Switch 2

Another August 6 release is Lies of P: Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. This edition includes the original game alongside all post-launch DLC and updates.

The game reimagines the classic tale of Pinocchio as a dark action RPG. It combines a gothic atmosphere with challenging boss fights and gameplay reminiscent of the Bloodborne series. The digital version lands on Switch 2 first, with a physical edition scheduled for October 2.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls — Marvel superheroes clash in team battles

August 6 also marks the launch of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on PC and PlayStation 5. The new fighting game brings Marvel heroes and villains together in 4-on-4 tag-team battles.

Developed by Arc System Works—the studio renowned for the Guilty Gear series—the creators opted not merely to port popular characters into a fighting format, but to completely overhaul their visual style with fresh costume designs and a unique artistic approach.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — Bethesda's classic RPG comes to Switch 2

On August 11, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get their hands on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

The updated version of the iconic 2006 RPG features enhanced graphics, a revamped user interface, updated controls, and a host of modern quality-of-life improvements. Also on August 11, Grounded 2 enters early access on PlayStation 5. The sequel to Obsidian Entertainment's survival game expands upon the original's premise, forcing players to survive environmental hazards, craft tools, and explore a unique ecosystem from a miniature perspective.

The PS5 release coincides with the launch of the Into the Abyss update, which introduces new features and advances the game's ongoing development following its initial launch.
