At Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023) Xiaomi presented the global versions of its flagship Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro smartphones, which were unveiled in China late last year.

The smartphones feature good cameras, high performance and impressive batteries. Though, the prices of these flagships are also quite high.

Cameras

One of the main features of the new Xiaomi smartphones is their cameras: the older Xiaomi 13 Pro has three sensors:

  • 3 MP, f/1.9, 23mm (wide), 1.0", 1.6µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, Laser AF, OIS;
  • 50 MP, f/2.0, 75mm (telephoto), PDAF (10cm - ∞), 3.2x optical zoom;
  • 50 MP, f/2.2, 14mm, 115˚ (ultra-wide).

The base model also has three cameras, but they are different -- and a bit more modest:

  • 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), 1/1.49", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS;
  • 10 MP, f/2.0, 75mm (telephoto), 1/3.75", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3.2x optical zoom;
  • 12 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 120˚ (ultra wide), 1/3.06", 1.12µm.

Performance

Both smartphones are built on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, providing high performance -- including in games: the Xiaomi 13 Pro beat the iPhone 14 Pro Max in Genshin Impact.

And thanks to an advanced cooling system with an evaporative chamber, the smartphone doesn't overheat even during long gaming sessions.

The Xiaomi 13 can come with 8GB or 12GB, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM. Both smartphones in base configurations have 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage with read speeds up to 3.5GB/s. The Pro version can also come with 512GB of storage.

Display

The Xiaomi 13 features a 6.36-inch display with a 1080 x 2400 resolution, while the resolution of the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s 6.73-inch display is 3200 × 1440 pixels. Both smartphones feature Samsung AMOLED E6 panels with refresh rates ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, typical brightness up to 1200 cd/m2, and peak brightness up to 1900 cd/m2. The screens support HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technologies, and they are protected from damage by Gorilla Glass Victus glass.

Battery

The base Xiaomi 13 features a 4,500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging support: you can fully charge the phone in 38 minutes.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro, on the other hand, has a 4,820 mAh battery and support for 120W fast charging, which allows for a full charge in just 19 minutes.

Both devices have support for 50-watt wireless charging. How long both smartphones can run on a single charge is not yet known.

Colors and price

The Xiaomi 13 Pro body is made of aluminum and ceramic. The smartphone is available in black and white colors. The Xiaomi 13 in addition to the listed colors is also available in green. Both smartphones are protected against dust and moisture by IP68.

As for pricing, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will appear on the global market on March 8. The price of the basic version in Europe will start at €999, and the price of the senior Xiaomi 13 Pro will start from €1299. However, in China the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro cost $575 and $718 respectively.
