US lists iPhone and other Apple products as dangerous devices

The cybersecurity agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has warned of the risk of using iPhones and other Apple products if they are not updated to the latest version of the operating system, Fox News TV channel reported.

These products have been included in the list of dangerous devices, because they have not received the latest updates, and may be vulnerable to hacking attacks, through which attackers can gain access to confidential data. The U.S. company Apple has officially confirmed the likelihood of such a threat.

The Department of Homeland Security also reported that Apple has released important updates to its Safari browsers on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, fixing critical security vulnerabilities. These include iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1 and macOS Ventura 13.2.1. Apple is also releasing Safari 16.3.1 for operating systems on older computers, including macOS Big Sur and macOS Monterey.

According to Fox News, the threat is serious enough that the department does not issue a warning about every update to Apple devices.

Armenia Card reported today that because of an unknown vulnerability in the Safari browser, hackers were able to collect various passwords and personal information entered in the browser. The problem also affected users of the ArCa app/website who did not use two-factor authentication (2FA) when accessing the website.

The company also reminded that on February 13 Apple released iOS 16.3.1, iPadOS 16.3.1, macOS Ventura 13.2.1 updates, which resolved the above issues and in the description of which a similar problem is noted.

To avoid such problems, users are advised to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to access their accounts.
