Players criticize Dead or Alive 6 Last Round for reselling already purchased DLC

The new version of the fighting game Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, released on June 24, has faced a wave of criticism on Steam. The main reason for player dissatisfaction is the requirement to repurchase a portion of the downloadable content (DLC) that had already been bought for the original version of the game, Gamespot reports.

Not all content transfers over

Most previously purchased DLCs can be transferred to Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, which is available in both a free version and a paid version priced at $40. However, this rule does not apply to characters from the crossover with The King of Fighters. Players who previously purchased the fighters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond, as well as their costume sets, will have to purchase this content all over again.

DLC has become even more expensive

The situation has been exacerbated by a price increase. While unlocking each character previously cost $8, the price has now risen to $11. Bundles containing a character and costumes have also gone up in price—from $16 to $21. As a result, even owners of the $40 paid version of Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will have to spend an additional $42 just to regain access to content they had already bought before. At the time of publication, developer Koei Tecmo has not announced any plans to change the pricing policy or to provide owners of the old DLCs with a free transfer.

In brief

The launch of Dead or Alive 6 Last Round was accompanied by a negative reaction from the community. Players were outraged that a portion of previously purchased DLC does not transfer to the new version of the game, while the cost of characters and costume sets was actually increased. As Koei Tecmo has not announced any changes yet, user reviews on Steam continue to remain mostly negative.
