Many users try to extend the life of their laptops by adding more RAM or replacing the SSD with a faster one. In some cases, this helps. But experts say that in a large number of situations, upgrades deliver only marginal improvements — or none at all.
Unlike desktop PCs, laptops are designed with portability, power efficiency, and compact size in mind. As a result, many key components — including the processor, graphics chip, and often even cooling systems — are soldered directly onto the motherboard and cannot be replaced.

Laptop upgrades only make sense when the issue is insufficient RAM or slow storage. If performance is limited by an outdated processor or graphics chip, upgrading components will not deliver meaningful gains.
