Blender, hammer and height: iPhone 14 Pro tested for durability

September 30, 2022  14:24

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro was put to the ultimate durability test: in three experiments, the TechRax channel author tried to whip the smartphone with a blender, scratched it with a knife, hit it with a hammer and threw it from a height of several floors.

iPhone 14 Pro vs. blender

What happens if you put an iPhone 14 Pro in a blender and turn it on? The phone will be completely destroyed in a matter of seconds, as one of TechRax's experiments showed.

However, to be fair, it is worth noting that the blender itself also suffered significantly during this experiment: its bowl burst.

But the smartphone cameras, oddly enough, were not affected.

iPhone 14 Pro vs. knife and hammer

In the following experiment, the blogger tried to scratch the smartphone with a knife and hit it with a hammer. As it turned out, to damage the phone with them, you still need to make some effort.

Indeed, the knife did not cause serious damage: there were scratches on the steel sides of the phone; the camera was not cut with the knife, but there were scratches on the glass. But the phone's performance is not affected.

Several times the blogger dropped the hammer on the smartphone lying on the table and it was not damaged. Then he struck the phone several times with a hammer, after which a white line appeared on the screen, but the glass was not cracked. The touch screen continued to work. However, the top of the phone was weaker and the glass near the camera cracked after the next blows with the hammer, and soon the phone shut down and stopped working.

The blogger also smashed the back panel of the smartphone with the hammer, but the cameras themselves were hardly damaged.

iPhone 14 Pro vs. height

In the following test, the blogger threw an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 13 down a flight of stairs. He doesn't say from which floor exactly, but by eye we can assume it was around the 9th or 10th floor.

Although both smartphones were in protective cases, the back of the iPhone 13 shattered during the first fall, while the iPhone 14 Pro was almost unscathed.

Recently the Apple Watch Ultra was also tested for durability: a blogger threw the watch on the floor, placed it in a jar of nails, and hit it several times with a hammer. The watch did indeed endure all these tests with dignity. Even the table under the watch cracked, but the glass did not crack - only small scratches appeared on it.

It also turned out that the watch can withstand diving deeper than the promised 40 meters.
