Xiaomi introduces solar battery for outdoor cameras

Xiaomi has announced a new product - a compact 5 W solar panel designed to power outdoor CCTV cameras.

According to the portal GizmoChina, the new product, called Xiaomi Outdoor Camera Solar Panel BW Series, is made of monocrystalline silicon. Its dimensions are 218x178x16 mm. The device comes complete with a three-meter cable, mounting bracket, fasteners and installation instructions.

The solar panel is compatible with Xiaomi BW300 and BW500 series security cameras, to which it connects via a USB-C connector. The manufacturer claims that the panel is protected from dust and moisture according to the IP66 standard, which makes it resistant to various weather conditions. The panel is capable of operating at temperatures from -20 to +55 degrees Celsius, and moisture protection even extends to the connection connector.

There is no word yet on when the new product will go on sale and whether it can be used to charge smartphones or other devices. The price of the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera Solar Panel BW Series has also not yet been revealed. However, since the device has already been listed on Xiaomi's international website, it is expected to hit the market soon.
