World's first foldable iPhone may get screen made by Samsung

Samsung and Apple have agreed to supply screens for Apple's future foldable devices, gizmochina reports.

It's not yet clear if this deal is for the displays on the hybrid devices or just the foldable iPhone. Samsung Display already supplies displays for the iPhone and MacBook. So, if Apple continues to collaborate on foldable devices, it won't be a surprise. In addition, Samsung already has a leading position in the foldable phone market.

As for the design of the foldable iPhone, this question is still relevant. According to some rumors, it could be a foldable phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Others speculate that it could have a larger foldable screen like a tablet. Apple's patents hint at various possibilities, but nothing is confirmed.

These are rumors for now, as Apple remains silent on any foldable device. While Samsung and other companies are already releasing foldable phones, Apple is taking its time to make sure its technology is perfect.

It was reported earlier that Apple continues to develop its activities in the field of foldable devices. Specifically, the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) approved the company's patent application for a new hinge design for bi-fold devices.

The hinge described in the patent has friction toothed mounts that provide synchronous rotation between the left and right halves of the device. This should make it possible to ensure the vertical line of folding of the screen, as in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr models.

While details about Apple's first foldable smartphone remain unknown, the patent mentions the possibility of using this design in other types of foldable products, such as tablets. According to rumors, Apple's first foldable device could be a hybrid tablet and laptop with a 20.3-inch screen.
