Problems with Android 15: NFC contactless payments no longer work on smartphones with updated operating systems

April 15, 2024  14:43

Android 15 Beta 1 has problems with NFC, and now users cannot pay for purchases using contactless methods.

A user with the nickname DueBread5293 complained on the Reddit forum that after installing the recently released beta version of Android 15 on the Google Pixel 7 Pro smartphone, he was unable to use contactless payment in the store. And he is far from the only one who has encountered such a problem: judging by the number of comments and similar threads with complaints in the Android Beta section, the problem is widespread - it seems to be affecting all Pixel smartphones for which Android 15 Beta 1 was released.

Although there are a lot of complaints, Google has not yet commented on the situation. And a solution to the problem has not yet been found. Users are advised to wait for the next beta version, and until then, pay for purchases using a bank card or smart watch that has NFC.

Note that the first beta version of Android 15 was released in April. The next beta is expected to be released in May, and users hope that NFC will already work in it. More stable builds of Platform Stability are expected in June and July, and the final and full version of the operating system will most likely be released in late summer or early fall 2024.
